Versatile Merino Extreme
Svala’s versatile classic Merino Extreme is a fabric whose two-layer structure combines the natural properties of merino wool with technical performance. The inner layer is made of highly moisture-wicking polypropylene, while the outer layer is warm merino wool blended with a small amount of polyamide for increased abrasion resistance. Svala’s Merino Extreme collection is designed and manufactured in Kärsämäki, Finland.

How can Merino Extreme work in both hot and cold conditions?
Svala’s unique two-layer construction makes Merino Extreme work all year round. The fabric does not feel too hot, yet it keeps you warm even in the coldest conditions – the same construction works just as well in a heatwave as in a hard frost.
Merino Extreme keeps your skin dry and warm. Moisture moves efficiently away from your skin, so you do not feel cold even when you stop moving. The natural odour resistance of merino wool keeps the garment fresh from one wear to the next, and long-fibre merino wool does not itch like ordinary wool.
The seams are flat flatlock seams, so the garment is comfortable to wear and does not press or chafe. The merino wool on the outer face is SuperWash-treated, which improves shape retention and wash durability. All substances used in dyeing and finishing meet the OEKO-TEX Standard 100.
Merino Extreme performs both on the move and at rest
Merino Extreme is ideal as underwear or a mid-layer in changing weather. The collection is suitable for layering both at work and during leisure activities. As part of the Svala AIR System™ layering system, Merino Extreme functions as the Base Layer: its two-layer construction retains warmth during breaks and releases moisture during activity.

What material is Merino Extreme made from?
Merino Extreme products are made from 75% mulesing-free merino wool, 22% polypropylene and 3% polyamide. The fabric weight is 200 g/m².
The knit has a technical two-layer construction: the inner layer is highly moisture-wicking polypropylene and the outer layer is SuperWash-treated merino wool.
Washing and care
The product does not need to be washed before use. The recommended washing temperature is 40 °C, preferably using a detergent suitable for wool. Reshape while damp and leave to dry. Airing the product between uses can extend the time between washes.
