“It’s a good 15 years since I set off on the first frosty days of winter to cycle to work the long way round, wearing a thick shell jacket. Quite a few things went wrong: I was wearing too many clothes, and ones that were too warm for exercise, plus a thick shell jacket that definitely didn’t breathe at all. As a result, all the sweat I’d worked up froze to the inside of the jacket.”
