Original Airbase – stay dry, stay comfortable
Airbase is a technical 3D mesh knit developed by Svala that helps the body maintain a comfortable temperature as activity levels and conditions change.
Its open mesh structure wicks moisture away from the skin and allows air to circulate. At the same time, air trapped in the three-dimensional loops forms a light insulating layer between the skin and the next layer of clothing. When the body warms up, the structure breathes effectively. When the pace slows or the temperature drops, the trapped air helps retain warmth.
Airbase is made from polypropylene fibre, which absorbs only around 0.03% of its own weight in moisture. This means the fibre retains virtually no moisture, instead helping to move it away from the skin towards the next layers of clothing. The material stays light and dries very quickly.
Silver ions are also integrated into the fibre to inhibit the growth of bacteria that cause odour. This odour-resistant property is part of the fibre itself, rather than relying on a finish applied to the surface of the material.
Weighing just 120 g/m², Airbase feels almost weightless against the skin, yet works continuously: helping to keep the skin dry, moderate temperature fluctuations and maintain comfort even during prolonged activity.
Less material. More air. Better temperature regulation.

Svala AIR System™
The problem with layering is that many people think they already know how to do it. Yet few understand why air is the most important insulator in layering, what the layers need to be like to work together or which layers are easily overlooked.
Svala AIR System™ solves this. It organises layering into four layers, each with its own role, from the Zero Layer to the Shell Layer. When the layers are designed to work together, you do not have to guess whether they are compatible.

Four layers, one effective system
Is there a more natural insulator than air? Svala AIR System uses the insulating properties of air to keep you comfortable in both cold and warm conditions.
